GREEN POOL CLEANING SERVICE

The smart way to get rid of the green monster in your pool! Our green pool cleaning service quickly and effectively removes algae from your pool so you and your family can enjoy splashing about all year round.

Professional Pool Care When You Need It

There’s nothing better than diving into a crystal clear pool on a hot summers day to escape the heat. However, if you've got a spot of algae growing in your pool or spa, it can quickly turn your dream poolside oasis into a bit of a headache. Fortunately, the technicians at Pool Clean specialise in algae removal and prevention. So, whether you're dealing with a minor algae issue or a more challenging infestation, we're here to help restore your pool to its shimmering best.

Our Green Clean Service

Our Green Clean is a one-off big clean for when your swimming pool has been a little forgotten about. In such cases, we usually recommend at least two visits to first shock and then clean up your pool. Most green cleans will set you back between $400 and $600 on average. However, because there is a big difference between a pool being left for a year vs a few weeks, we can't stipulate an exact price until we undertake a thorough onsite inspection.

Please don't hesitate to give us a call with any questions you may have, and we'll be more than happy to help.

What Does Green Pool Cleaning Include?

Having been in the pool cleaning business for many years, we have developed a tried and true process for algae removal that really works. Although the type of pool and extent of the algae infestation may differ, our general seven-step process remains largely the same.

Step 1: Initial Assessment and Inspection

Our friendly team will visit your home to assess and inspect your swimming pool. This allows us to evaluate the condition of your pool and determine the appropriate steps to remove the algae.

Step 2: Preparation and Chemical Treatment

We will remove the winter or summer cover from your pool and proceed to add shock chemicals, algaecides, and conditioner. These professional-grade products are essential in effectively combating algae growth.

Step 3: Water Testing and Balancing

To ensure optimal treatment results, we will test your pool water and carefully balance the water chemistry. We'll then add the necessary chemicals to achieve the perfect water balance.

Step 4: Skimming and Cleaning

During the algae removal process, we will diligently skim debris and leaves from the surface of your pool. Additionally, we'll clean the skimmer and pump baskets to enhance filtration efficiency.

Step 5: Filtration and Equipment Maintenance

To further improve water clarity and circulation, we will perform a thorough backwashing and rinsing of your pool's filter. Our team will also visually inspect all equipment to ensure its proper functioning.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

As the last step, we will dose the appropriate amount of salt (if applicable) and clean the salt cells. Then, we will vacuum your pool and scrub the waterline for a sparkling finish.

Step 7: Final Report

To keep you informed, we will email you a comprehensive service sheet, including a detailed report of any issues discovered during the pool cleaning process.

Pricing is based on your pool being local to Te Rapa, Hamilton (within 20km). – If located further than a 20km radius (from our site in Te Rapa), an additional cost will apply

How to Fix a Green Pool Yourself - Tips and Tricks to Help Combat Algae Growth

Ridding your pool of algae can be a costly exercise, especially if it's left unattended for long periods of time. Fortunately, because we care more about the health and maintenance of your pool than the money in our pockets, we've come up with some easy tips and tricks to help you prevent algae and keep your pool sparkling.

  • Maintain Proper Chemical Balance: Regularly test and adjust your pool's chemical levels to ensure optimal conditions that discourage algae growth.

  • Enhance Circulation: Improve water circulation by running your pool pump and filter regularly. This helps prevent stagnant areas where algae thrive.

  • Timely Skimming and Brushing: Skim the pool surface to remove debris, and brush the walls and floor to dislodge algae before it takes hold.

  • Sunscreen for Your Pool: Consider using a pool cover when the pool is not in use to limit sunlight exposure, which aids algae in multiplying.

  • Shock Treatment: Administer periodic shock treatments to disrupt algae growth and sanitise the water. Check out our online pool shop for different pool algae cleaner products and shock treatments.

Why is my pool green?

Algae in your pool water is a common culprit behind the frustrating green pool phenomenon. Factors such as poor water circulation, imbalanced chemical levels, and sunlight exposure can create the perfect environment for algae growth. But worry not, as Pool Clean has the expertise and solutions to tackle these issues head-on.

How does your team clean a green pool?

Our team uses professional-grade products and industry-best practices to restore your green swimming pool to its former glory. Our experienced technicians execute the plan with precision, integrating proven techniques such as shock treatments, thorough brushing, and the optimisation of water balance. In doing this, we guarantee effective and lasting results in removing algae from your pool or spa.

How long does it take to treat a green pool?

The time it takes to clean algae from a pool can vary depending on several factors, including the severity of the algae infestation and the size of the pool. For example, a concrete pool will take upwards of a week to completely remove the algae due to its increased porosity. In contrast, a fibreglass pool tends to be more responsive to treatment and can typically be restored in a shorter timeframe.

As a general recommendation, we advise multiple visits to completely remove algae from your green swimming pool and restore it to its former glory.
